About the play
Plantagenet King Henry II is spending a wintry 12th century Christmas at Chinon castle in the Loire. But, adding fire to proceedings are the guests: his wife, Eleanor of Aquitaine,  his three sons, his young mistress, and Philip - King of France. The battle lines are drawn; which son shall inherit the throne?
Goldman’s witty play is the story of this thoroughly dysfunctional and fascinating royal family.  And, as you’ll see, its themes are no less relevant in the 21st century.
